Vision Casting Meeting

Today was our big day to cast the vision of Vapor and bring in the invited 12 (it was actually 10), but there is possibility to add 1 more within the week-We are continuing to pray for 1 more leader to surface to make it 12. The meeting was seasoned in much prayer and ended in all 10 committing to the weekly meetings. Brett was able to communicate who we are, what we do, and how we do. Within the 10 lies many personalities and multiple gifts/talents.

We wanted to give you a brief background on the guys so that you could feel more connected to them:

-Shadrack Wambua Kiihome (Caretaker of AIC-lives on the property)--such a servant heart; he heads up a ministry on Saturdays thru AIC that brings together young boys in the area, where they play futbol and teaches them the word of God —a little mini vapor league, if you will. He is a leader in the worship team and everytime that we see him, he is serving in some capacity- he is the happiest guy you will ever meet. Very respected in the community and in the church. He is so great with kids and always has many following him.

-Daniel Kiptoo- Paul Tergat’s nephew. Met him randomly on the road and he asked how he could be part of the ministry. He is involved in a music ministry that’s affiliated with his university- also does drama ministry within this outreach. Kind of K-Crew stuff. Has a heart to reach the youth.

-Japheth Kuptoon- Hungry for the Word; teachable spirit. Appears to desire spiritual growth. His brother, Cherop, is an international runner who is up and coming. Just moved to Ngong and lives with his brother and training with Tergat’s group. Sunday School teacher back home.

-Julius Letting-  trains with Tergat’s running group. demonstrates great diligence in training with the group. Has been a member at AIC, Ngong Hills for the past 5 years. has a teachable spirit. Always smiling.

-Bismark Mutua- In bible school; head of music ministry at AIC; works with the youth. respected by those in the choir and at church. comes highly recommended because he is an extremely commitment and faithful individual.

-Elly Kariuki- “Adopted” son of international runner, Irene (who will be running World Championship in August). Recently met him while visiting with Irene’s husband (Pastor Boniface). Elly is passionate about music, sports and also trains with Irene’s group as a runner. Just getting to know him, but from what we have encountered he appears to have a servant’s heart.

-Peter Muiruri Njoroge- Next in line as the happiest guy in the bunch. A solid leader within the church and the community. Lives in Gichagi (village behind church) and is extremely loving, helpful to his family there. He is going to invest in Gichagi with us to aid us in meeting more of the community there. A Sunday school leader and is passionate about sharing the Word of God with the kids/youth. A Student at university, Nairobi studying Land Survey. Has been helping with the planning of the land.

-Patrick Kilanzo- University student for community development. Such a servant spirit-  leader in the worship team. He volunteers his time with Compassion International.

-Vinny- plays for Nairobi city Stars (soccer professional team ) but lives in Ngong. Loves kids, relational- laid-back- meshes well with different people.

-Edward Kimosop- Has been a great asset to us here; extremely helpful in connecting us with the runners-  For those of you who know him, his family is going on very well. THey send you their greetings.

**Not at the meeting, but still praying about asking James- a Sudanese refugee who lives in Ngong. A new believer but a natural leader. Trains with Tergat’s running group.

From how it looks, we may be starting our own Vapor choir.  Its been really cool to see how God has brought together this group of guys and  we are very eager in spending life on life with them. It was great to see them all fellowshipping over some Fanta, bisquits, and taking turns on the keyboard. Definitely won’t be lacking in the worship department.

Thanks for your prayers. Bwana Asifiwe- Praise the Lord- for today.
